Terms and conditions
Last updated: 5 November 2026
These terms govern your use of Jolta, an email and calendar application created by Layer7 BV, Belgium, VAT BE0830063345. You can reach us at [email protected]. By using Jolta, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
1. What Jolta provides
Jolta lets you connect your own Microsoft 365, iCloud, Gmail, Google Workspace and IMAP mailboxes, as well as supported calendars, to use email and calendar features on your device. Availability and functionality depend on your provider, its permissions, and your device. Layer7 BV does not operate application servers that host or relay your mail or calendar data.
2. MIT licence
Jolta is licensed under the MIT License. Jolta’s source code is publicly available on GitHub for anyone to inspect. Subject to its conditions, that licence permits using, copying, modifying, merging, publishing, distributing, sublicensing and selling copies of the software. You must retain the applicable copyright and permission notices. The licence text accompanying the software governs those rights and takes precedence over these terms if they conflict. Third-party components remain subject to their own licences.
3. Your accounts and responsibilities
Connect only accounts you own or are authorised to access. You are responsible for your account permissions, device security, credentials, backups, and the messages and calendar actions you initiate. Use Jolta lawfully and respect other people's rights. Do not use it for unauthorised access, malware, fraud or unlawful unsolicited messages. Nothing in these terms restricts rights granted by the MIT License.
Sending or deleting messages and changing calendar events may affect your provider account and other people. Review recipients and actions carefully and maintain backups of information you need.
4. Third-party providers
Your email and calendar services are supplied by their respective providers under their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for complying with those terms. Providers may change their APIs, impose limits, suspend accounts or discontinue access, which can affect Jolta. Naming a provider does not imply its endorsement of Jolta.
5. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains account access, local processing, optional AI features, update checks, disconnection and deletion. You retain your rights in your messages, attachments and calendar data. These terms do not transfer ownership of that content to Layer7 BV.
6. Availability and warranty
To the extent permitted by law and consistent with the MIT License, Jolta is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every provider or device, error-free synchronisation, or ongoing updates and support.
7. Liability and mandatory rights
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the authors, copyright holders and Layer7 BV are not liable for claims, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use, as provided by the MIT License. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including for fraud or wilful misconduct, or removes mandatory consumer rights.
8. Stopping use and changes
You can stop using Jolta at any time, disconnect your accounts, revoke provider permissions and remove local application data. Your rights under the MIT License continue according to that licence. We may update these terms for future use by publishing a revised version and date here, with appropriate notice of material changes. Updates do not retroactively remove rights granted under the MIT License.
9. Applicable law and contact
These terms are governed by Belgian law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections under the law of their country of habitual residence. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction determined by applicable law, including mandatory consumer jurisdiction rules. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
